If you’ve been a frequent visitor around here, you’ll know that I absolutely adore handprint artwork! I mean, who doesn’t love receiving artwork made by that special little person in your life? Cue ooohs and ahhhs.
With mother’s day just around the corner, I decided to create a slightly different (but similar) twist off handprint arts. This mother’s day fingerprint art will be LOTS of fun for kids to make!
Why do I love handprint and fingerprint art work? First of all, they are extremely easy to make and even very young kids can participate.
As an aside, I do think this fingerprint craft project is more suitable for a toddler or older child.
If you are looking for adorable artwork that infants and babies can have a hand in (no pun intended), check out our collection of Free Handprint Printables!
The fact is, your child’s contribution to the artwork (adding their fingerprints) is probably the most important part of this craft project.
I just love love LOVE that the child’s participation is absolutely crucial to the completion of the artwork.
On top of that, these adorable artwork is super meaningful and special to the recipients. I’ve always been delighted to receive these myself!
Cute Mother’s Day Fingerprint Art

This adorable dandelion mother’s day fingerprint art has 2 black and white dandelions on the left awaiting your child’s fingerprints. Use your child’s favorite color to make fingerprints, or use an assortment of colors to decorate the dandelions.
To the right of the artwork is the text: “You are simply the BEST mom I could ever Wish for.”
I’ve also included 2 template versions. One that says “Love, ________________” for your child to sign their name. The other one says “Happy Mother’s Day!”
Choose the version that you (or your child) would like to use!

Oh my! Look at these two black and white templates! See how boring they look without the addition of your child’s fingerprints?
Now let’s put some colored fingerprints on the templates.

Don’t you think these look so much better now?
Also, don’t forget to write down the year somewhere on the printable (or on the back)so you can remember how old the child is when looking back.
Easy Mother’s Day Craft For Kids

To make this simple Mother’s Day Fingerprint Art Craft, you will need the following supplies:
- MOTHER’S DAY DANDELION FINGERPRINT ART PRINTABLE – Link at bottom of Post
- WHITE CARD STOCK
- NON-TOXIC PAINT–I love this set of crayola paints because it also comes with glitter paint or FINGER STAMP SET.
- DISPOSABLE PLATE or PAINT PAD
- FOAM PAINT BRUSH or REGULAR PAINT BRUSH – if using paint
- DISPOSABLE TABLECLOTH – or anything to protect your work surface.
How to Make SIMPLE MOTHER’S DAY Finger Print ART
- First, print out DANDELION FINGERPRINT ART (Link at bottom of post) on white card stock. Using cardstock adds durability if you are not planning to frame or laminate.
- If using paint: pour out non-toxic washable paint on a paper plate. Let them dip the fingerprint part of their fingers into their desired color(s).
If using ink pad: Have your child roll their fingerprints over the inkpad a few times. - Next, let your child dab their fingerprints all over the dandelion pappus (the fluffy white hair-like part), creating their own artwork.
- Allow fingerprints to dry. It doesn’t have to be completely dry, just dry enough where the paint/ink won’t smudge.
- Finally, have your kid sign their name (don’t forget to date it) and you are done!
